Upon the registration of the Polaris brand in 1994, the Ziylan Group turned to the Russian market which it had chosen not to enter until then because of economic conditions. By 1997, the Ziylan Group’s footwear exports had reached $17 million. Starting to manufacture slippers in 1998, the Ziylan Group positioned Polaris as a slipper brand. The company was selling 1 million slippers/sandals by 2000. Undertaking a major investment in branding with Polaris in 2001, the Ziylan Group offered a Turkish public that had so far been wearing slippers only in the house, in the bathroom, or in the back yard a slipper fashion that lent itself perfectly to getting worn in the street or to work.
Polaris introduced to Turkey first the five-zone technology for foot comfort followed closely by the sub-brands Comfort, Comfort Flex, Comfort Balance, Extra Comfort, Flexible and Comfort Stretch. Setting for itself in 2003 the goal of becoming a footwear brand, Polaris soon added men’s, women’s and children’s shoes; ankle boots, knee-high boots, bags, products in the five-zone and comfort lines, shoes with anatomical sole padding, and school shoes to its vast slipper collection. The first Polaris Shop was opened in Istanbul’s Cevahir Mall in 2006.
With 100 stores in many provinces of Turkey and a network of more than 700 dealers in all of them, Polaris today is a brand that brings fashionable products designed with a particular emphasis on foot health to consumers at affordable prices.
