In May 1960, after having been built as the first Turkish tyre factory, in 1962 Pirelli Turkey launched the first local produced tyre to the roads of Turkey. Izmit Factory, which has an important contribution to the country’s economy with 60% exportation, 1600 employees and over 400 authorized dealers, has a production capacity of 8 million. It is one of the most expansive facilities of the Pirelli Group.

Between 2011- 2016, Pirelli is the only official tyre supplier of Formula 1 Championship. As well as Formula 1, all of the other racing tyres are produced in Izmit Factory including the World Rally Championship (WRC), GrandAm, Ferrari Challenge and GPwhich are the most prestigious motorsports activities in the world. Izmit Factory, which is the production base for the race tyres of Pirelli, guarantees superior performance and success to the “fastest” drivers in the world and so called as “Factory of the Champions”.
