Avis was introduced in Turkey on August 7, 1974 by Setur Travel Agency, which is a subsidiary of Koc Group and was renamed later on as Setur Oto Kiralama A.S.

By 1980s, rent a car industry had not been very active in Turkey. However, after such period, great developments in Turkish tourism and the investments, parallel to these, were reflected also in rent a car industry.
